Marina Bay Sands is home to a hotel with 2,561 suites, a state-of-the-art convention centre stretching 120,000 sq metres, designer shopping mall, restaurants, Art Science Museum, two theatres, and a built in Casino. The main attraction is a spectacular 340m SkyPark suspended 200m in the air with an observation deck and a 150m long vanishing edge swimming pool located on the top of the three 60 storey hotel towers.
Australian company Laservision were contracted to investigate the feature lighting and transform this unique structure. ULA Group and Anolis were invited to demonstrate the latest in high powered LED technology on offer. Laservision along with their engaged lighting designer, Colin Baldwin, were extremely impressed with the Anolis ArcPad Xtreme LED washes and decided to install 35 fixtures to up-light the sheer-walls of the three hotel towers.
Director of Projects, Shannon Brooks from Laservision commented “At first we were sceptical about using an LED product to light the 200m curved sheer-walls of the Marina Bay Sands hotel. After several tests with 1200w short arc fixtures, the ULA Group from Australia recommended we test the Anolis ArcPad Xtreme fixtures and what a result it was! The Anolis ArcPad Xtreme provided us with an energy efficient, IP67, high powered fixtures. It was the perfect solution for all tall buildings Architectural Lighting treatments.”
The LEDs in the ArcPad Xtreme are highly energy efficient with extremely long life as the LEDs are densely populated providing extremely bright output perfect for outdoor applications. The fixture is completely silent due to the conventional cooling. The IP 67 rating means it can be used for exterior installations and is an ideal fixture for illuminating large buildings due to the high light output of the LED modules.
Lighting Designer Colin Baldwin commented “The sheer-walls of the Marina Bay Sands 3 hotel towers measure over 200m and are curved in places making them extremely difficult to light. After several lighting tests with ARC / discharge fixtures I proposed Laservision to test the new Anolis high power ArcPad LED's, which resulted in Xtreme satisfaction. I would have no hesitation to recommend Anolis ArcPad Xtremes for any number of applications, even tall buildings where brightness, colour saturation and longevity are paramount" The unique combination of RGBW LED colours delivers a stunning quality of white light, not seen in other competitive products on the market. ![]() All photos Courtesy of Laservision For more information call 1300 ULA GROUP : 1300 852 476
