First Robe LEDWash 600s on The Road with JLS Print E-mail

The very first batch of the new Robe ROBIN LEDWash 600 fixtures off the production line in the Czech Republic were delivered to leading UK lighting rental company HSL, with 40 of them going straight out on JLS's UK arena tour, specified by lighting designer Dave Lee.

JLS are the UK's favourite boyband, their meteoric career kicking off after being runners up on the 2008 X-Factor talent show. Since then they have sold 1.3 million albums worldwide - including their new and second studio release "Outta This World" - and have enjoyed massive chart success inclosing several Number 1s as well as winning 2010 Brit Awards for "Best Breakthrough Artist" and "Best British Single" for 'Beat Again'.

Robe Helps Light 2010 World Cup Closing Ceremony Print E-mail

Robe ColorSpot and ColorWash 2500E ATs and REDWash 3●192s were a major feature of the spectacular lighting design by Tim Dunn and Hugh Turner that caught the eye of a global TV audience and the 95,000 excited vuvuzela blowing football fans who packed into Soccer City Stadium, Soweto, Johannesburg ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final.

 

Dunn and Turner collaborated closely on the design and specification of the equipment, all of which was provided by Gearhouse South Africa, the main technical suppliers for the Closing Ceremony event produced by The VWV Group.

Robe CitySkape Xtreme LED fixtures were utilised to illuminate what's been officially declared by the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest soccer ball of them all!

The 15 metre high ball currently resides at the Emperor’s Palace Hotel, Casino Convention & Entertainment Resort, Johannesburg, South Africa and is a promotion for Kia Motors intended to mark the culmination of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Robe moving lights - over 120 fixtures - including DigitalSpot 7000DTs have been installed into 4 primary entertainment centres aboard P&O Cruises' newest state-of-the-art cruise liner, the 290 metre long, 14 deck, 115,000 tonne, 3500 capacity Azura.

The lighting was specified by Carnival UK's Entertainment Sound & Lighting manager Philip Yeomans, and the package was delivered via Robe UK with Blackburn, UK, based HSL undertaking the installation and providing the ongoing technical support.

Robe Scores in World Cup Broadcasts Print E-mail

Robe ROBIN 300 Spot and Wash moving light fixtures are making a big impact in the World Cup Broadcast studio for SABC (the South African Broadcasting Corporation), which has been set up in Exhibition 1 at the Sandton Convention Centre, central Johannesburg.  

All SABC's 2010 FIFA World Cup match coverage happens in this studio along with several other regular programmes which are broadcast from this temporary location for the duration of the World Cup.

Robe lighting did its bit to represent the Czech Republic in the absence of the country's football team from the World Cup tournament - with Robe moving lights used extensively for the official "Kick Off Concert", staged in Orlando Stadium, Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa.      

The show featured a star studded line up, headlined by Shakira, The Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Vusi Mahlasela, Blk Jks, Juanez, Tinariwen, The Parlotones, Big Nuz & DJ Tira and many more. There were also addresses by South African President, Jacob Zuma and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Robe Takes The Heat at Masada Print E-mail

Over 100 Robe moving lights were utilised for the Israeli Opera's amazing production of Verdi's "Nabucco", a stunning site specific work staged in a purpose built open air arena at the foot of Masada Mountain at the Dead Sea in Israel. 

Robe also made custom reflectors and special framing gobos for its ColorSpot 2500E AT fixtures, to facilitate the very specific requirements of leading Israeli  lighting designer Avi Yona Bueno (Bambi), who wanted to have a super-tight beam to isolate different areas onstage, whilst retaining the intensity of the light path.
